Are you looking for a way to improve your breath? Everyone suffers from bad breath, or halitosis, from time to time. There are several remedies you can do at home that may help tame the odor.
-You can probably guess the first one: brush your teeth after eating. If you have dentures, or dental appliances, be sure to clean them well at least once a day. Certain toothpastes, like those with antibacterial properties, may help lower obnoxious smells.
-The second tip probably isn’t a surprise either: floss at least once a day. This can help remove food particles that may be trapped between the teeth.
-Avoid getting a dry mouth: Keep your mouth moist by drinking a lot of water and avoiding alcohol, caffeinated drinks, soft drinks and tobacco products, which can dry your mouth out more. Instead, you can chew on some sugar-free gum or suck on some sugarless candy to stimulate saliva production.
-Brush your tongue: Your tongue can have a lot of bacteria on it, so brushing it can help reduce odors. If you have a coating of plaque on your tongue, you may want to get a tongue scraper.
-Adjust your diet: Avoid the foods and beverages that are known to give you bad breath.
-Change your toothbrush: At AZ Dental, we recommend that you get a new toothbrush every three to four months. This ensures that the brush is in good enough repair to clean your teeth.
